MSC is an abbreviation of 'mesenchymal stem cell' - a cell capable of developing into a precursor of bone, cartilage or related tissue.

 

Nomenclature

The researcher who coined this phrase is now requesting that people instead refer to it as 'Medicinal Signalling Cell' since it has been found that the main function of an MSC is to signal other cells to help in repairing tissues.
