Knee disorders fall into three groups -

• disorders one was born with
• disorders as a result of injury to bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves
• disorders that arise slowly from degenerative issues, metabolic imbalances or overuse

Bone torsion -

• Tibial torsion
• Femoral torsion
• Miserable malalignment

Abnormal anatomy or laxity -

• Patella alta
• Trochlear dysplasia
• Hypermobility syndrome

Normal anatomy that can become problematic -

• Plica syndrome
• Fat pad syndrome

Soft tissue tears -

• Collateral ligament injury
• Cruciate ligament injury
• Torn meniscus

Dislocations and bone breaks -

• Patellar dislocation
• Fracture

Consequences of inflammation -

• Adhesions
• Arthrofibrosis
• Patella baja

Pain syndromes from occupational overuse -

• Runner's knee
• Jumper's knee
• Housemaid's knee

Inflammatory syndromes -

• Bursitis
• Tendinitis

Joint cartilage and bone stress -

• Bow legs (Varus deformity)
• Arthritis
