Tendinitis is a description that infers inflammation of a tendon, although often the condition is more a degeneration than an inflammation.
Tendinitis or tendonitis?
Because the condition refers to the distress of a 'tendon', one would expect medics to use the term 'tendonitis', but in fact in medical literature the term 'tendinitis' is preferred. Either may be used, however. Even better is 'tendinopathy', which means a disorder of a tendon.
