Knee rehabilitation does not focus only on the knee. Once the knees are showing improvement in range-of-motion, strength and balance, your rehabilitation regime should start to include hip exercises. Hip extension exercises are important because any extension lag may also lead to extension problems in the hip as well.

So in this exercise, relax on your stomach on a firm surface.

Keeping the knee as straight as possible, lift the bad leg up, moving it from the hip. Hold it there for 5 seconds and slowly lower it.

Relax both legs together again, and then raise the other leg. Repeat the sequence 10 times.
