Bulletin board registration rules - as of August 23rd 2009

Post by The_KNEEguru »

In order to participate on this bulletin board, you need to register and acknowledge that you have read and understood the rules for participating.

As of 23rd August 2009 these rules are -

"You will receive your new password by email, so it is necessary to provide a correct email address! If you fail to receive a password via email, it may be that you have given an invalid email address or your ISP is blocking the email as possible spam. If you contact the KNEEguru, by going to the Contact form http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/helpdesk/ at the bottom of the home page and submit a ticket, quoting your username and the email address you registered with, we will be able to rectify this.

You agree, through your use of this KNEEgeeks bulletin board, that you are over the age of 18 years. You agree, also, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law - legal actions can be taken against you. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to this bulletin board.

Note that it is impossible for us to confirm the validity of posts on this KNEEgeeks bulletin board. Please remember that we do not see the messages before they are posted and are not responsible for their content. In joining the bulletin board you undertake to disseminate only information that is true and correct in light of your knowledge. We ask you to give references (links for example) to the health/medical information you provide when it is not personal experience (personal experience is any symptom, test, treatment etc that you or a close family member has undergone himself/herself.

Bulletin board users and moderators must behave at all times with respect and honesty. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any information presented. The messages express the views of the author, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. This policy goes for member profile information as well. Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable or misleading is encouraged to notify an administrator of this forum immediately. We have the rights to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this forum, and any related websites to this forum. We at this bulletin board also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any information we have about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any information posted by you.

The bulletin board is moderated and users have the right to flag any post for the attention of the moderators. Both moderators hold medical qualifications - the 'KNEEguru' is a site owner and holds an MBBCh degree (medical degree) and 'ACIMod' is a qualified physiotherapist and a volunteer moderator. At least one moderator logs into the bulletin board every day, and flagged posts automatically go to both moderators. Moderators may amend posts deemed unfit for the site or delete content, or may delete the entire post or thread. Amended posts will be marked to show that an amendment has been made. In most cases platform users may be warned if their conduct is such that they are being considered for banning, but in serious cases we reserve the right to ban without warning to protect other users.

Please note also that there is a 'Contact us' button at the bottom of every page on the site, and this can be used to make contact with the KNEEguru, in addition to the button that allows one to flag a post.

All users are by default considered as non medical professionals. If otherwise, to retain our HONcode status you must state this. If a health professional gives medical information as a platform user, his/her status as a medical professional must be identified. Information on the bulletin board and the rest of the site is not meant to replace the advice of a health professional. Content is designed to complement, not replace, the relationship between a patient and his/her own physician.

You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. We advise that you keep the name appropriate. With this user account you are about to register, you agree to never give your password out to another member, for your protection and for validity reasons. You also agree to NEVER use another member's account to post messages or browse this forum.

After you register and log into this bulletin board, you can fill out a detailed profile. It is your responsibility to present clean and accurate information. Any information we deem inaccurate or vulgar will be removed.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the security of information entered onto this site for limited availability - for example email addresses and instant messages - the owners of this board can take no responsibility for such information being revealed through software malfunction, hacking or any other cause outwith their immediate control.

Please note that with each post, your IP address is recorded, in the event that you need to be banned from this bulletin board or your ISP contacted. This will only happen in the event of a major violation of this agreement."
