Hi All,

I saw my OS on Tuesday and has spotted some fluid at the bottom of my right knee that I managed to fall onto for the 3rd time and as you can see on my title during my last knee injury that I had fluid around the fat pad and was given an injection to reduce the inflammation and break down the fluid and the new injury may have speeded up the swelling and fluid again, my OS did say if PT does not help he will give my right knee a cortisone shot the 3rd one so far. Just to refresh everyone during my last scope the fat pad was trimmed as it was causing catching in the knee joint as well as medial plica excision

Hi All,

Just like to check and have it clarified that a steroid injection could reduce fluid in the knee and thought draining the fluid out of the knee would be a better option or is that a higher risk as the fluid in the kneecap is protecting the injured knee.

Steroid injections are to reduce inflammation and ease the knee pain and not for removing fluid in the knee is what I always thought but might be wrong.

After my knee surgery I had a big problem in my fad pad. The cortisone injection works well but the best was an orthopedic soles for the feet, I never thought my knee problem was in my feet.

Can you please update us what happened with your fat pad injury afterwards? Is it healed 100%? Did you go back to your normal state?

I just wanted to update your fatpad thread as it seems one of the very few threads on the internet!

Like you, I have had a cortsine injection, and although the needle didnt hurt, It was a bit painful in my knee for a day or two.

But alas, that did not help. I did go back to say that there was no difference, but the specialist just told me to take more ibuprofen and come back in 6 weeks. I think that advice was because this type of injury is really difficult to cure.

The cure is rest. The cure is for the fatpad inflammation to reduce so I can go back to normal.

I found some information on Youtube about taping, and my wife is currently doing that for me.

It is too early to say if it will solve the problem, but it has totally relieved the pain I was feeling. I was in constant pain, even with the ibuprofen, but since the tape has moved my kneecap up and to the side, it has been pain free. I am hoping that with this and rest I will get the inflammation down and be on the road to a cure.
