squat alternatives

Post by lilone »

What does everyone do as an alternative to squats? I want to really work the quads. Other than cycling, what do you do?
I am doing physio (although my physio is a big fan of squats and I am not). I am not looking for professional advice, just information of what various alternatives other people use for working quads. What works for you?

P.S. I have lateral subluxations, PF arthritis and grade 4 chondromalacia; however, I am curious about everyone's quad regimin's, not just those with the same conditions.

Wall slides as rehab, but now lots of road cycling. I have very big and strong quads, but never do squats, indeed I physically can't due to abnormally tight calf muscles (however much I stretch)

If you can't do squats for whatever reason, your physio should be giving you alternatives. If s/he can't, find a physio who is more knowledgeable!

Of course, you should be working all the muscle groups around the knee, as well as hips, glutes and make sure your feet are aligned and gait is correct
