HMS without dislocations?

Hiya!

Quick rundown of my story: I've had PFS for at least 13 years, and a plica excision 12/30/03. My current PT tested my hypermobility, and found that I can hyperextend my fingers, ankles, wrists, knees...the only thing that I can't hyperextend to a great extent is my elbows.

I've never had any dislocations, just maltracking and the joys that go with it, several severe ankle "rolls". My joints also tend to ache...one day it'll be my fingers, the next it might be my ankles, etc.

No one has ever mentioned HMS or EDS to me before, I just found it while sifting through this site, and read up on them...it kinda seems like you have to have had dislocations to have one of them. Do you think this is true, or am I misreading because it's midnight and I'm tired as heck?

Also, I'm meeting with my surgeon on Monday...do you guys think I should talk to him about it? Are these syndromes something that an OS can diagnose, or do I have to see a different specialist?

You definately do not have ot have dislocations to have hypermobility syndrome. The more severe cases and forms of it are accompanied by full out dislocations but you can be hypermobile and not dislocate.
