Surgery to remove excess synovial fluid membrane: Has anyone had this done?

Post by knee-will-be-great »

Hi all,

I am intending to get a large portion of my synovial fluid membrane surgically removed from around my knee. Prior to having had a HTO, my synovial fluid membrane outpocketed and ballooned to the extent that it still impedes some of my activities.

Ha anyone had surgery to remove an enlarged Baker's Cyst or an excess of synovial fluid membrane from the back or medial aspect of their knees?

Thanks for any information you can provide ... all is appreciated.

Cheers ........ Knee-will-be-great!!!

I am scheulded as well on APril 22, in San Francisco.
I sure hope it works and saves my knee from having knee replacement.

If you have had this procedure done please let me know how your are doing. I sure hope I can walk after 4 weeks w.out crutches!

Thanks for your reply

Hi there ...

I have not had the surgery as-of-yet, and interestingly, my symptoms have subsided since I have changed my diet and eliminated some seemingly bad-for-precipitating-knee-inflammation foodstuffs.

I believe that my surgery is scheduled for January 2010, but I will keep you posted with any new developments.

Please, please, please give us Kneegeeks a play-by-play of your synovial fluid surgery - and your recovery.

Many and most sincerest thanks!

From ... Knee-will-be-great - and so will your knee be (great)!!!

I had a section of my synovial membrane removed as part of my knee debridements last Wednesday (see "Rejoining this forum" by Gilly) along with other bits and pieces. The synovium was sent for biopsy so don'y know why it was apparently severley inflamed yet. I thought this sympton occured as part of rheumatoid arthritis which I have constantly been tested for over the last 15 months and been clear - as yet.
Cheers,
Gilly
