Re: looking for help... osgood schlatter related

So its definately not OSD as that presents on the bony bump below the knee , can you not get to a physio just to let him look ? it would then give you an idea of what it is and if you need to see an orthopaedic surgeon

Re: Is this NORMAL? *very, very long, somewhat confusing*

I have a lot of experience of OS as my son has had a very severe form for 3 years bi-laterally and last week the Orthopaedic surgeon said it will definately be gone in your 18th year as that is the latest that the growth plates close .
hope this helps vix

Re: Help me!!

Hi I have become quite an expert on Osgood Schlatters disease as my son has had it very severley for 2 years .Total rest from sports is needed ,a knee brace can also help if it is only in one knee, but if it is in two we found it put too much pressure on the other knee.Anti inflammatorys also help bu...

Re: Osgood Schlatters

our orthopaedic surgeon told us it was the only way to rule out everything else but they only did it when the OSD was bad not initially and he said if my son refused to give up sports they would put him in plaster hip to toe to immobolise him which they eventually did

Re: Osgood Schlatters

not sure about that, OSD is ment to get better with rest and as you have not been resting it seems unlikely why dont you ask for a MRI to confirm diagnosis? :-\

Re: Osgood Schlatters

I think there are a few different operations to try and help ease the pain of OSD but the surgeons will only perform these ops in worst case scenarios as our surgeon said youve got nothing to lose as my son was housebound from OSD.He told us the success rate was 50/50 .There is a forage op where he ...
