Re: My knee pain - is it IT band/tight hip flexors?
AWolf ~ I could easily have said just about what you did. I'm dealing with the same situation...ongoing pain/referred pain in my left leg. Tight IT band, tight quad, tight glutes, piriformis, sartorius, ql etc. Migrating pain into the knee & sometimes down into the foot. Like you, I have random ...

Re: MCL - how long did it take yours to heal?
I had a partial MCL tear which the orthopedic surgeon told me would take 6 - 8 weeks to heal. And it did take all of that time.

Re: Risk of living with a torn ACL?
Archman ~ the decision to reconstruct the ACL or not is up to you & how active you intend to remain. I was 67 when I did all the damage to my knee. I had no repairs & within a month of the injury was back to riding my horse. I stopped riding 2 years ago because I felt I no longer had the agi...

Re: TORN ACL or NOT?
I have to agree with what mmrocker13 says. ACLr is an elective surgery. If, indeed, you're not finding the knee to be problematic there doesn't seem to be a valid reason for reconstruction. I've owned & been involved with horses most of my life & for 8 years following the damage to my knee I...

Re: Slip worries, ice & snow
Barry ~ I can sympathize. Invest in a pair of Yaktrax for safety walking when the ground is icy.

Re: Left knee injury from soccer (meniscus tear+bone bruise+ possible acl tear)
SH ~ I can address only one part of your post & that pertains to the suspected few strands remaining of your ACL. That was exactly what my MRI report stated, yet the OS I saw said right off the bat - your ACL is completely ruptured. You'll also hear from others, I'm sure, that an ACL does not he...

Re: Burning sensation in leg
Emma ~ a burning sensation could be nerve pain as a side effect of surgery.

Re: Over 50...ACL reconstruction or not?
fabienzan asked, "What do you mean you have still got no repair ? How large was your meniscus tear ? I had my knee reconstruction and they found a 1.2 cm medial meniscus tear but left it in situ (didn't trim it either). Is that what they did for you ? Do you feel any symptoms from the meniscus ...

Re: knee braces, which do you use??
I have a custom Townsend Premier brace which, after my injury, I used regularly. Now it hangs in the closet but it was most effective at the time. As I recall it was an expensive brace but the cost was fortunately covered by my medical insurance. I would say it's worth the investment if you're commi...

Re: Over 50...ACL reconstruction or not?
Vickster's absolutely correct, fabienzan...no repairs. I'm getting along just fine. Occasional jabs of discomfort but nothing serious.

You're probably quite correct, Kaputt_Knee.![Cheesy :D](./images/smilies/cheesy.gif)

Re: Young Guy With Interesting Knee Problem - Advice Requested
Take it from this old lady...get a diagnosis via MRI, if not x-ray. You have to know what you're dealing with before you can make efforts to correct it. Surgery can be a last resort but you need an explanation in order to know in which direction you go. Wishing you well.

Re: What can I do to loosen my quad muscles?
"Has anyone ever had a problem with tight quads?"
I deal with a tight left quad regularly but due to back problems. Quad stretches & foam rolling help considerably but offer only temporary relief until the back problems are resolved.

Re: ACL & MCL TEAR ALONG WITH TIBIAL AVULSION SPINE RIGHT KNEE
I have no idea what might be causing your pain quite honestly. I can only say that the pain I experienced was literally all over the knee. There was no pain from my ruptured ACL; rather there was knee instability for a while. Through the years I've experienced a few weeks here or there with rather i...
