Itching/swelling/redness over knee

Hi all, I haven't posted in here in some years! I was having an issue with my knee and I searched the forums and googled but I'm still not sure exactly what's wrong. Basically, I have three times now gotten one or two round red swollen patches (about the size of half of a dollar bill) across the fro...

Re: MPFL Reconstruction...HELP!

hi, the last surgery i had was an mpfl to my left leg last year and i am going to have my other leg done in the fall. although it seems like everyone who has had this has different recovery speeds (also depending on the post op protocol of your os), after my operation it took me awhile to regain ful...

Re: MPFL Recon and LR . . . questions/concerns

Hi, I had an mpfl in March so I am about 9 months out. - How much pain should I expect to be in (on a scale of 1-10) right after surgery? 1 or 2 weeks post-surgery? For me, after surgery the first five days are the absolute worst, in regards to pain and discomfort post surgery. As with my other oper...

Re: LATERAL RELEASE...Did it work for you?

1. When did you have your lateral release done? My left knee was done in 1992 and my right knee in 1998. 2. Are you better or worse from it? It has gotten complicated but at the time I had them done I was better afterwards. I was in a lot of pain in both knees and at the time, the lateral release h...

Re: MPFL Rehab Issue

Thanks for your reply Melissa, I have been wearing my smaller brace - not the whole leg one. But even before I left physical therapy they told me I should start getting rid of it. I just got scared and now it's been months. So I've been walking around without it today and I am just going to wear it ...

MPFL Rehab Issue

Hi everyone I am now about 8 months post op from my MPFL surgery. I am working out (recumbent bike and elliptical) along with leg press and I still feel like I am not making much progress. Basically my health insurance cut me off a couple of months ago so I have been on my own since then - going to ...

Re: Pleeeeeeeeeze help (having surgery on mpfl and need advise)

Hi, I am about 6 months post op from mpfl surgery. I think that it is getting better but the recovery has been extremely slow. I have just stopped limping - my quads were basically gone for a long time. They are still really really weak but they shut down for a long time after the surgery. I was in ...

Re: MPFL Reconstruction (without TTT)

Hi, I had this done in March of this year. My recovery has been really slow and I had a hard time with swelling inhibiting my movement. At this point, I still walk with a slight limp (it is getting a lot better but usually the limp comes out after I am tired.) I would say that I still have a long wa...

Re: Help! New pain following MPFL recon.

Hi Climbing Girl, I am also 14 weeks post op today for MPFL reconstruction. While my pain is by no means gone, it is somewhat better than before surgery. But I can't say I have experienced what you are feeling. It is still really tender over the graft site and sometimes if I push too much in PT I'll...

Re: TTT and MPFL questions

Hi loopiegirl, I am 10 weeks post op from a mpfl reconstruction. I have never had a TTT as my doctor does not think it would work on me because my trochlear grooves are flat. In terms of MPFL recovery I would say that it is slow going - progressing but slowly. I was let out of my donjoy brace last w...

Re: MPFL Reconstruction

Hi Amy, I am also about 10 weeks post op from the mpfl reconstruction. Luckily, I work freelance so I didn't work for about 1 month after surgery. But I agree with climbing girl that it has been a slower recovery than I thought it would be. Due to post op pain, etc. I would say that the 1st two week...

Re: MPFL repair and lateral release after dislocated knee cap

Wow, Climbing girl you are doing great. I am 7 weeks post of and I started PT 2 weeks ago. I am at about 40 - 50 degrees flexion. I am getting worried but the swelling at least has really started to go down the past couple of days. My quads are pretty much non existent as well. I am still in the don...

Re: MPFL repair and lateral release after dislocated knee cap

Hi I had the mpfl reconstruction about 5 weeks ago. I was toe touch with crutches until I had my 1st post op about 2 weeks after surgery. Then my OS sais I could weight bear as tolerated and get rid of the crutches when I was ready. I was put into a brace that was locked until my visit a few days ag...

Re: MPFL recon question

Hi I just had this done 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I feel like it is a bit tight around the graft site but I am in a locked brace and can't bend it. It's also tender around there. I have one small spot where I can feel it but it's still a bit numb - the feeling has come back more but it's not all there y...

Re: Intra Operational Changes

heather,

i was supposed to have a ttt in a few years ago. the os went in and decided it wouldn't work for me so he did a thermal shrinkage procedure.

it's hard not knowing what they are going to do to you. but best of luck
