Re: Looking to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Good to hear from you, silver_maple. Come to think of it, I was probably in a lot more pain last year before I underwent the stem-cell procedure. Unfortunately, lacking an accurate way to recollect pain, I'm not 100% sure, but since you raised the possibility of post-op success, maybe I was able to ...

Re: Looking to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Hi people, my TKR surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday. Just got a call from a medical equipment company that wants me to rent two devices: 1. Cold therapy machine with an ice mold that helps with healing: $250 for a three-week rental. 2. CPM leg machine that helps with regaining range-of-motion...

Re: Looking to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

This is good to know, thanks so much. I will research the cryo cuff. Sounds useful even now. :) Hi Ubercool. I have some experience of something similar to the cold therapy machine when I had my patellofemoral replacement. For the first 10 days or so I used a cryocuff which basically autocycled betw...

Re: Regenexx stem-cell procedure to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Here is my six-month post-op report. First, the good news: I was able to bike twice for more than three miles without any pain afterward. Except, this time my knee started to hurt three days later and I have to ice it. Not sure if it was caused by the ride or a wrong move, but suffice it to say, for...

Re: Looking to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

I thought I would post a comment to this thread prior to my six-month report in Post-op Diary. Yesterday, I went biking and completed a 3.2-mile course. I know it may not sound like much but that is the longest I have been able to bike since aggravating my knee in early 2021. And the best news is, n...

Re: Looking to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Thanks for the info @gaoshanfelix. Unfortunately, I'm not under 50, but the good news I have a BMI of 21.5, muscle mass of 76.5% and bone mass of 4%. I will make sure to pay attention to PT. Here's an interesting article that Centeno posted, which rebutted an article written by Vangsness, which shou...

Re: Regenexx stem-cell procedure to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Here's my four-month report. I had a severe flare-up in my back on Friday, Aug. 5. Then I tripped over my laptop, which was sitting on the floor and I landed wrong on my left knee on Saturday, Aug. 6. To make matters worse, I also injured my right knee in the process. Dr. Goodwin suggested another p...

Re: Looking to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Thought you would enjoy an update. Yesterday, I saw Dr. Chad Hanson, a former Steadman Clinic alumni, who has 18 years of experience and is board certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, with no negative background data. Once he examined my left leg, he immediately noti...

Re: Regenexx stem-cell procedure to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Here's my 90-day report: Knee - Just made a bad move this morning again and my knee reminded me that I'm still not 100% or 50% for that matter. So, has the knee improved? Not really. Back - Did the PRP treatment of the spine help? Not really either. I did a few PT sessions at ATI with their largely ...

Re: Had Regenexx Stem cell procedure done on Left knee

So, Felix complained about Regenexx costing too much but if Vericel charges $60,000 that makes Regenexx charges, ~$8K, look like chump change. Also, the MACI site says to stay off your knee for eight weeks! I had trouble enough staying off mine for three days! ::) So, add another $10K for a rehab fa...

Re: Had Regenexx Stem cell procedure done on Left knee

@skishikes ignore Felix, you're doing just fine. Supplements have a marginal effect at best. The most important element of stem cell therapy is choosing the right clinic and Regenexx is by and large the best, based on my extensive research. And those comparisons with European practitioners are not u...

Re: Regenexx stem-cell procedure to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Thanks @skishikes for adding your own updates, they are very thorough, and better than mine. Last week, I had prolotherapy on both back and knee, which was included free as part of my treatment. Felt good for about two days but then on Saturday evening, I got up from the couch and experienced a very...

Re: Regenexx stem-cell procedure to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Thanks for the info and support silver_maple. It has been two months, 60 days to be precise, since my stem cell treatment. On Tuesday, June 7, I bicycled three miles and my knee was sore for two days and occasionally bothers me since. A few weeks earlier, on May 16, I walked one mile and the sorenes...

Re: Regenexx stem-cell procedure to treat severe knee medial compartment OA

Today, went for a 55-minute walk covering 1.15 miles. The pace was slow as you can imagine, my knee feels a little sore now, so I'm icing it.

Probably a little too aggressive for a first-time walk, but I think it went well considering.
