Re: Scan Interpretation

Did you see an orthopaedic knee surgeon/specialist at the time? Have any surgery? Do you use a brace to offer supper when playing golf (walking on uneven ground can be a challenge for arthritic knees) Thanks for the reply - I am 75 years old. I did see an knee specialist surgeon and physio at the t...

Scan Interpretation

Hi all 6 years ago my right knee collapsed. I'd had a nagging pain in the region of the head of the fibula for weeks and one evening, moving a chair, it 'snapped.' The pain was intense, I couldn't put my foot on the floor, I went to A&E by ambulance. By the time I'd had the scan the knee was fun...

Re: Stem Cell (cartilage repair)

Am I on a surgical waiting list . . . . .? I've been banging that drum for 5 months "get me on the waiting list" and I cant get on the waiting list. What I would like to know is why, when I can't get on that surgeons list because he is so busy, how come I can see him tomorrow if I pay (tom...

Re: Stem Cell (cartilage repair)

Thanks for the reply. I am 73 years old. My knee 'broke' last July and I can now walk for long distances without any problems. The knee however unable to take the strain of a golf swing. I paid for an MRI scan. The report says: There is an oblique tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus an...

Stem Cell (cartilage repair)

Does anyone have any knowledge of / experience of this procedure i.e. does it work / will it repair the tears to my meniscus?

Thanks - Is there a limit to how many times you can have these. Should I try to optimise their benefit by choosing not to have one now and having one each spring?

Cortisone

My knee collapsed on me last July (caused by playing golf). I paid for a MRI scan and a consultant. The Consultant read the scan report to me (20 minutes)! The scan showed a torn my meniscus on two places and I had some age related arthritis. Four months later it is still swollen and sore, I can wal...

Re: medial meniscus - oblique tear

If all else fails and I have to sell the family jewels to get some answers - how much will an on-line consultation cost me?

Re: medial meniscus - oblique tear

I'm back . . . . The MRI scan shows a number of areas of damage and degeneration in my knee. I need to know which of those caused the sudden catastrophic failure of my knee. And I need to know why that happened and what I need to do to ensure it doesn't happen again. I'd like to get those answers wi...

Re: NHS (circumenting bureaucracy)

Thanks for the helpful reply. I've had no problems straightening the knee but bending it has been a key feature from the beginning and day by day, bit by bit it's bent a bit more so that now it's bends almost as much as my other knee. I have to say that 12/11/10 days ago I would not have believed th...

Re: NHS (circumenting bureaucracy)

I am in Liverpool. The critical injury (caused playing golf) happened on 18th July. 12 days later, after being unable to walk to walking on two crutches, then one crutch, I am now walking around the house without crutches and yesterday I mowed the lawn. If I hadn't seen the MRI scan report I would h...

NHS (circumenting bureaucracy)

I damaged my knee (sports injury). I paid for an MRI scan which produced a detailed report on various damaged areas e.g. torn meniscus. I need to see a knee specialist who can look at the report, look at the images and tell me that I need to have this or that procedure or I don't need an operation b...

I can also add that after to £3485 quote of got three other quotes of £3400, £3350 and £3295 and got the £3295 MRI scan done at the same venue as the £3350 quote venue!
