Re: Surgery next month and my knee issue is a mystery

Is it possible to have an arthroscopy and not sign the "do anything" consent? I'd like for them to go in and take a look and also clear any debris but I would like to specifically say "You may NOT do a lateral release". Do I have that right, as a patient? To the OP, many of your ...

Re: Still dislocating after 8 surgeries- don't know what to do- please help!

Before you go through something so extreme and irreversible, you need to be fully informed and armed with details. Why won't knee replacement fix the problem? Because of the angle of the femur? Find out why, exactly, it isn't on the table. Being too young should not be a factor here since the issue ...

squat alternatives

What does everyone do as an alternative to squats? I want to really work the quads. Other than cycling, what do you do? I am doing physio (although my physio is a big fan of squats and I am not). I am not looking for professional advice, just information of what various alternatives other people use...

rock climbing with arthritis?

Can anyone tell me if rock climbing is considered a bad activity for arthritis? I don't think it is considered high impact but I'm not sure.

Stem cell -any success stories?

Are any people on the board who have had clear success with it? Is there anyone who is a couple of years past and still doing well?

Edit: I found some stem cell posts.

OATS procedure SouthWestern Ontario doctor earch

I am finding it very hard to find an OS who does OATS near me (through my online searches). I wonder if anyone in South Western Ontario has a doctor that they have used and recommend? I don't yet know if I am even a candidate for OATS but I would like to see a doctor who can do it well so that it wi...

Re: Advise Please - Patellar Maltracking and chondromalacia Surgery

Bunnyup85, Will you do a journal/blog of your journey? I have the same issues as you except more damage was done before we caught it. I have patellar tracking issues and a tilt that have caused grade 4 chondramalacia and advanced arthritis. I am still waiting on my appointment with the OS. I will be...

Finding a great OS

Have most of you left it up to your GP to choose your OS? I am hoping to get more than one opinion about my knee and I want to ensure that I see surgeons who are the most knowledgeable and skilled. I want to feel confident that what they tell me is my best option and not simply the best option that ...

Re: Troclear Dysplasia and arthritis in 40 year old

Thanks so much for your response:) It is helpful to get the names of some treatments for grade 4 chondromalacia. I will google them. I had looked before under "treatments for advanced condromalacia" and found nothing for people with no cartilage left. Now I have some words to focus on to h...

Re: Hello everyone - shattered left patella - very emotional

Hi Jacquie, I'm sorry to hear that it has been so tough but I'm encouraged that it seems three weeks has made a noticeable difference in your pain levels. As a single woman who may need surgery soon, I;m wondering how you managed to do things after your help was gone? How did you get to PT when you ...

Troclear Dysplasia and arthritis in 40 year old

I'm new here and in the early stages of trying to figure out my options for treatment. I first dislocated my kneecap in my early 20's when turning over on the couch. My friends helped me straighten my locked leg, I shouted, the leg fixed itself and we all went on as if nothing had happened. I limped...

Re: Considering lateral release surgery and would love some input!

I'm going to follow this topic since I am in a similar boat. I have troclear dysplasia and a tilted patella which has caused me to develop advanced arthritis in the petelofemoral compartment. I am told a knee replacement will be in my future but I am only 39 and have a long time to wait before we go...
