Re: My tale of Woe

Did you have partial or total knee replacement? Having only the spacer need replacing is often touted as "best-case" of a failure scenario in that the metal implants are still fully secured and if they weren't, they'd have to do a "revision" which tends to not be as functional as...

Arthrosurface Hemi-cap no longer freely available in U.S.?

It appears that Hemi-cap (for femoral surface) is no longer "freely" available in the U.S. but fully released/available in non-US markets. Why? Does anyone have background on reasons for that? Not much information via googling. This seems to have been pulled from the U.S. market and only ...

Re: Dr Dye

James, If you do a search here for Dr Dye you will be able to piece together most of Dr Dyes recommendations and regimens. Probably not worth traveling for as most of the advice comes down to total avoidance of aggravating activities for the long-term. For more feedback, you may want to detail your ...

Re: Complex meniscus tear and 2 mild arthritis with Dr Broyles

Thanks for updating.

What about the level of new cartilage growth at the 1-year MRI? Can you comment on that?
And will the drill holes heal more?

Re: Opening wedge high tibial osteotomy & bone graft

I assume you are in your late 50s or so , which given your description may be ok for osteotomy given it's only good for 10 years. Kudos to surgeon for discussing that with you. Not sure what else to suggest but only regennex is offering a possibility for your description. Just offering a possible id...

Pearl
Roughly speaking, patients get full activity and function for 10 years post ACL before surgical benefits start to degrade. Did your surgeon discuss both the upsides and downsides with you prior to surgery ? Is the surgeon offering long term outook then post-surgery if not pre?

Re: Subchondroplasty for a hard core skier

My own subchondroplasty surgeon stated full recovery at 4 months. Curious what other surgeons are saying, would be interesting to know. At one month I was still having severe pain just walking around at work......everyone is different though.

Re: Ruptured Quadriceps Tendon

$4k for a PRP is absolutely outrageous. Call around/ Shop around. For your geographical area I think a typical rate is around $1500.

Re: Amnionic stem cells

Hi Do you have generalized OA or isolated cartilage defect(s)? Can you describe the difference you experienced between regennex and amniotic stem cell treatment? I looked at one video but it didn't explain how the R3 process is different in terms of guaranteeing x amount of viable MSCs since the fre...

Re: Subchondroplasty recovery questions

Looking back I wish I had been brave enough to opt for a cartilage regeneration procedure instead of treating the bone pain only with the subchondroplasty. I have a few reasons for opting for that, but are probably not relevant to this specific conversation. I don't continue to see the surgeon who d...

Re: Subchondroplasty recovery questions

Hi Almost none of the calcium phosphate is resorbed. And I'm 3 years out from the surgery. Last x-ray was done just a few months ago. Regarding success, I would call it marginally successful. For me, it helped immensely with eliminating non-tolerable pain while sitting, standing, sleeping. While wal...

Re: Extreme knee pain after cortisone shots

You should write the idiots name and location on here as an example of what not to do treatment-wise. Followed up a PRP with cortisone that's shown to weaken tendons. Perhaps post root cause issues here and hope to get a response on that, like what is causing the tendon issues to begin with ? Do you...

Re: Coolief and Nerve block test prior

If the provider targets the correct nerves, than you may be pleasantly surprised at pain reduction post-treatment. I had lots of moderate/severe skin bruising that was very sensitive for a few weeks. The knee pain reduction-effect lasted roughly 4 weeks or so before nerves started re-growing so it w...

Re: "Iovera treatment for Knee pain" Any Experiences?!

San/Marsha No provider is giving a heads up on how excruciating the procedure is. Definitely not my "choice" in deciding and hindsight is 20/20. Did your provider apply nerve block prior to Coolief? Did he/ she discuss all process steps ? Additionally it makes no sense that Coolief would b...

Re: URGENT (BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP) patellar tracking problems

Did you get surgery for the torn meniscus ?? For weakened vmo have a PT insert acupuncture needles and apply pulsing current as an effort to increase response. I would recommend this whether you had meniscus surgery or not. If you haven't yet had meniscus surgery , consider a PRP injection to help r...
