Does constraint prosthesis help hypermobile knees?

Hi all, I have had both knees replaced some years ago. The left knee doesn't have too much pain although it has failed & sometimes slides & will hurt then. The big problem is my right knee. It was replaced first in 2009, then again in 2015 when it was thought to be infected. It was replaced ...

Does constraint prosthesis help hyper mobile knees?

Hi all, I haven't posted for several years but now I'm back with a question. I have hyper mobile joints & had my knees replaced 9 & 10 yrs ago. My left knee hasn't been too bad with pain although now it's failed & slides about some. The big problem is my right knee. It was originally rep...

Re: How to help the cause of chronic pain sufferers?

I think the point is: what should chronic pain sufferers use to combat their pain? I am not asking this to be combative but for the information as I am looking for that answer myself. I currently take ibuprofen & acetaminophen & I have so much pain I am severely limited in what I can do. Pho...

How to help the cause of chronic pain sufferers?

I would like to start some sort of grass roots effort to bring the needs & concerns of chronic pain sufferers to the forefront. The rise in the number of heroin/fentanyl overdoses in the US (maybe in other countries?) have caused politicians to call for the medical community to stop or severely ...

Re: Can hospital be sued for medication goof?

No problem - I am super sensitive to this issue today! I agree pain pills should go only to those who truly need them. The rise in heroin & fentanyl overdoses have caused so many problems for chronic pain sufferers. That is why I have no sympathy for those people. They chose to take heroin/fenta...

Re: Can hospital be sued for medication goof?

KCKnee: I think you missed the point of my post. You said: ************************************************************************ If they want to limit opiods prescriptions, the place to start should be in post-op wards of teaching hospitals. It is a bizarre trick-or-treat scene in there as well-m...

Re: Can hospital be sued for medication goof?

Thanks for the responses! I made it thru the weekend with surprisingly little problem with withdrawal. I had to go heavy on the Ibuprofen, over the max limit as I was already at that, but I also took TUMS so hopefully that limited the damage to my stomach. I also started taking Acetimenophen (Tyleno...

Can hospital be sued for medication goof?

Ok, this is part rant & part question. I have had 14 surgeries on my knees over the last 8 years so I have been taking vicodin (hydrocodone) for several years now. I am still in a lot of pain & still have to have one more knee replacement so the vicodin is definitely needed to at least give ...

Re: Nick's RK Medial plica excision/fat pad op#1 Anterior interval release op#2

Hang in there Nick! I just had a scope on my right knee as the pain in it was getting worse & worse. The surgeon found a lot of scar tissue which was getting in the way as the knee implant moved (That knee has been replaced twice). He removed all that tissue & now even though I still have po...

Re: Genicular Knee Block for RSD.

Wow, I am sorry you have had so many issues! I have had ongoing knee pain for the last 8 years. I've had both knees replaced (one replaced twice), numerous scopes, as well as several nerve surgeries/procedures. Nothing has really helped & now I'm probably looking at replacing both knees again. A...

Hey Nick,
Just wondering.. did you mention bone spur to OS #2? I have totally different knee problems than you so I don't have any experience with it but it just strikes me that having the bone spur in there has to be causing some sort of problem?
Hope it all works out for you!

Fell on replaced knee!!

Hi, Two weeks ago, I fell hard on the deck landing on the medial side of my right knee. That knee has a temporary articulated antibiotic spacer in it since it was infected last May. The spacer is temporary but should last for several years. Since I fell, that knee has been swollen & more painful...

Re: Coolief (Cooled Radiofrequency Treatment)

Hi Pam, I'm so sorry to hear you are still having such problems! I know it has been a long time for you. I will let you know if this treatment seems to help me at all. I have been taking it easy on it for the last couple days but sadly today my mother passed away so my world is turned upside down &a...

Re: Need help my xray and mri results are fine???

Physical therapists will work with you to determine if your issues are caused by muscle weakness, imbalance, etc. They can give you exercises to do, try different treatments such as electrical stimulation, & generally try to work with you to correct or improve whatever is causing your pain. Howe...

If it were me, I'd ask for a referral to an Orthopedic Surgeon or Sports Med Dr.
