Re: 13 days post op ~ Medial Meniscectomy

Quite normal. I’ve had a few on each knee, lateral and medial. You need to rest it and get the swelling down. Elevation (above heart) and ice, a good 20 minutes at a time through a thin tea towel as you are doing. Painkillers as needed. Gentle physio exercises like quad sets, heel slides, leg raises...

Re: Miserable malalignment

I would personally believe the expert, but it’s a massive operation so make sure you understand what will be done, waiting list time, how long you’ll be laid up/non weight bearing / off work etc, how your pain will be managed, the rehab (how you’ll get physio locally on NHS/private etc) and realisti...

Re: Miserable malalignment

So are you seeing two different consultants?
When did each say what they said? I’m a bit muddled on the chronology.
It sounds like both of these surgeons work in the NHS?

Re: Miserable malalignment

Can you get an appointment with a hip specialist as the next course of action if that’s possibly the problem? Are you relying on the NHS or do you have private insurance/funds to get further opinions? Maybe Kneeguru can suggest other surgeons in the UK experienced in these types of issues? Although ...

It’s a rare procedure, but you might find something in the rotational surgery sub forum

Assume your surgeon is a recognised expert in doing such surgeries?

Re: MRI Review Request - Suspected ACL Tear

Is your knee unstable? Swollen? How old are you? Are you an athlete wanting to return to high level sport? Have you consulted one or more knee surgeons to discuss your case and the pros and cons of doing surgery? If fully ruptured, an ACL can’t heal but you can live with one that is compromised depe...

Re: MRI Review Request - Suspected ACL Tear

Your pictures are mostly too dark to see unfortunately. The experts you really need to consult are your knee specialist armed with the report from the radiologist and the images to review him/herself alongside a thorough examination of your knee. If you feel a second opinion is needed, then seek one...

No recent posts, or anything directly related to your question at first glance but there are a number of threads which reference Botox if you use the search function https://www.kneeguru.co.uk/forum/search.php?keywords=Botox&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=...

Re: Medial knee pain

I’d try to get the MRI images reviewed again. Could be you have a small meniscus tear given what you say about symptoms. They can be hard to spot, esp if the reviewer was not asked to look for one (the reports on the NHS for example can be somewhat cursory and focus only on the initial referral requ...

Re: Hi everyone

Ask your doctor to do blood tests for inflammatory conditions if not already done (check for something systemic rather than local to the knee). What’s the history of your knee? An injury, arthritis? Have you had an MRI? Are you elevating the knee, using ice regularly, compression? Is there pain, red...

Fingers crossed.
Good that you’re in London as you’ll have access to some very experienced surgeons. Who’s your second opinion? Are they an ACL expert?

Re: Does BUPA cover MACI/ACI surgery

Biogs as in biographies, not blogs. Yes those are the consultants who used to (mostly) practice privately at Spire Bushey or used to. I’m going back 10+ years to when I went partly down that route so you’d be best to Google each individually and see where their private consultations/surgery happen. ...

Re: microfracture questions please help

You’ve responded to a post that’s nearly 20 years old, thus it’s unlikely the poster you’ve responded to will see what you’ve written (esp as they’ve not been back since 2011). I note from their signature that they had an ACI performed 2 years after the mfx and other surgeries soon after. Good luck ...

Re: Partial Menisectomy 2 weeks ago

Completely normal yes, despite what the surgeon claimed you might be able to do. 3-6 months (not a few weeks) to fully recover from a successful arthroscopy is to be expected. The little holes do not show the trauma your knee has undergone. The biomechanics have also been changed with the meniscus b...
