Re: Question re synovectomy and LOA

Synovectomy is a procedure usually considered when synovial overgrowth is florid, producing a lot of synovial fluid, such as in rheumatoid arthritis or pigmented villonodular synovitis. It seems that in your case it may be just a bit of synovial overgrowth, ie the villi or 'fingers' of the synovium ...

It will be important going forward that you don't take any unnecessary sporting risks with your knee. Good that you feel you are getting some answers though...

Re: Miserable malalignment

I understand how you feel. Osteotomy is not an easy thing to contemplate. At the end of the day you need to feel fully informed, so that you can move forward with more confidence.

Re: Miserable malalignment

I have attended many osteotomy courses as an onlooker, and met Dr Kristian Kley who has a keen interest in rotational disorders of hip and knee and who is very respected - https://ovelihealthcare.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_term=hip%20orthoped...

Re: left knee: patella alta+former dislocation--> incessant pain, also neuropathic

@andreafiumi - I suspect you are describing issues with 'proprioception' or the awareness exactly of where your limb is and what it is doing. This article (which is unfortunately only available online as an Abstract - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10356419/ suggests that ...proprioception is less ...

Re: Osteochondral defect

Your child is probably proving to be the best judge of what to do! In this post (admittedly a bit old) https://www.kneeguru.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46999 a patient with a similar problem was advised of the options by the surgeon - a) leave it alone and do nothing b) get another MRI scan and see ...

Re: MRI Review Request - Suspected ACL Tear

Gosh, it proves that a second opinion can offer valuable insights. Radiology of the knee joint can be challenging unless the doctor has a lot of specific orthopaedic experience.

So now you have a much clearer picture of what you are going to have to deal with when deciding on going forward...

Re: Medial knee pain

You say - "The pain I get Is a dull ache and then sudden sharp pain that occurs and it’s right along the medial joint line." Yes, a medial plica can suddenly catch like that. Often you can feel a thickened cord rolling under your fingertips if you palpate that area. Vickster's suggestion i...

Re: Locked knee due to meniscus tear, should I do ACL recon separately or at the same time?

A meniscus tear that causes locking and then 'miraculously' recovers is probably a bucket-handle tear - /KNEEnotes/knee-dictionary/bucket-handle-tear - where the bucket-handle spontaneously reduces and seems fine, but the underlying longitudinal tear is still likely to be just waiting for the next a...
