Re: Tear in medial patellar retinaculum

I would say you are making the right changes - weight, shoes, reduction of exercise. The body needs time to heal. It is right that an MPFL tear may be a leftover from a patellar dislocation that went back in, but it seems that your knee is currently stable....

Re: Struggling hard after a graft fail many years after surgery

ACL revision is not an emergency, and the meniscus tear is not either, unless there is locking. You can probably give yourself a bit of time, have some physio, and then re-assess - just keep the joint mobile during this decision time with gentle range of motion exercises.

It is so frustrating when one knee problem morphs into another because of the management! I hope it settles down.

I was quite lucky to meet a nurse who gave me quite a professional injection

Re: Strange knee

I hope another reader with experience of these procedures will pop into this thread and give us the benefit of their wisdom. Meanwhile, I note that ....the saphenous nerve landmarks are relatively uncertain. Thus, it is difficult to accurately target the saphenous nerve due to its anatomical variati...

Re: Torn ligmant advice please

@Mynamels - the knee joint has quite a complicated anatomy: 'meniscus' - is one of two very similar-looking shock absorbers between the two long bones. /KNEEnotes/knee-dictionary/meniscus 'ligaments' - are the guy-ropes that keep the joint stable. On the inside of the knee are the cruciate ligaments...

Re: UK Surgeons for arthrofibrosis/ Hoffa fat pad

Medics have the benefit of being able to attend world conferences and hearing and meeting the experts... But as an interested patient one probably has to be a bit of a 'sleuth'.... For example, you can locate a publication in the medical press (eg by typing into Google 'Pubmed,PMC,Hoffa's fat pad sy...

Re: left knee: patella alta+former dislocation--> incessant pain, also neuropathic

I don't think one can lump all doctors together. Firstly one must consider the general environment where the patient was seen - a State hospital will have specialist clinics (eg fracture clinic, arthritis clinic) and that clinic must be under the supervision of a specialist, but the average patient ...

@A_sure_sky - I am just checking to be sure we are discussing the same thing. You refer to dislocating your knees - did you mean a knee dislocation or a patellar dislocation?

Re: Patella Fracture non-OP Rehab

That was a really unfortunate incident. So sorry. But it is possible to have non-displaced patellar fractures and they usually heal well. You will need to avoid any loss of range of movement as the area under the patella (anterior interval) may develop adhesions - https://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEnote...

Re: Pain around knee ligament sprain

Probably hiking was not a great idea as tissues really take a year or two to fully heal. Now you will just need to take things easy and 'wait and see' but try to keep the joint mobile with gentle ROM exercises and patellar mobilisations. Re: Partial weight bearing - HELP

A lot of things in medicine fall into the 'this is the way it has always been done' category! From the actual research to the formal review of that research, to the acceptance for publication, to the actual publication, and then having that work cited by other authors may take years! The real messag...
