Re: Managing Knee Pain
@grayson - your symptoms could be from a number of things. Problems walking and climbing stairs are often relevant to 'anterior knee pain' or 'patellofemoral pain', but not always. See /KNEEnotes/knee-dictionary/anterior-knee-pain - "Anterior knee pain'. An ordinary knee support available from ...

Re: Advice regarding Distal Femoral Osteotomy vs MPFL reconstruction and return to activity
The osteotomy should limit further cartilage damage on the one side. There are several medical papers available online talking about MPFL reconstruction and distal femoral osteotomy, most of which are talking about a derotational osteotomy... But here are a couple of papers that seems to fit your si...

Re: Rebounder with ruptured ACL?
Hi
Even though you are coping with the situation, you need to take care not to injure yourself and damage the menisci, too. That would compound any instability. If you are ok walking, I would say stick to walking for exercise rather than risking things with jumping.

Re: MPFL swelling 9 years later and won’t go away
This slide presentation is interesting as it talks about causes of the graft being tight, other than the obvious. It may be a bit complicated for you - see https://orthopedie-lyon-croix-rousse.fr/images/cours-diu/DIU%20DU%20GENOU%20LYON%202018%20SERVIEN%20ECHEC%20POSITIONNEMENT%20MPFL.pdf but it ref...

Re: MPFL swelling 9 years later and won’t go away
This old forum post is from a patient with similar issues - nice discussion but no clear answer - https://www.kneeguru.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60046 . The post is 2012, so long ago... but here is the first post - I had an MPFL reconstruction done in June of 2010, and have had pain ever since. I ...

Re: MPFL swelling 9 years later and won’t go away
Here is a medical paper for you - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10149653/ - from which I quote: Appropriate graft tensioning is one of the most important factors for a successful MPFL reconstruction. Overtensioning of the MPFL graft can lead to patellofemoral joint overload and undert...

@Sammy01 - can you give dates of the original injury and current symptoms - it just helps us put your situation into context. You can do this in your 'Signature' and then these dates will show on all your posts... (you do this by clicking your username, and 'edit profile'...)
