I am so sorry. I have been back at work a while and I really think I wanted to believe I'm cured. So...I avoided going on this site. Michelle, I did not do well at PT, in fact, my MD had me stop because it was causing more swelling by doing PT which led to less range of motion. This was a good decis...

Another PT issue, any wisdom welcome

Seems like Pt is a pretty popular subject. My issue is I began PT on January 8th, for a patella fracture (2 screws, figure 8 wire), and have had 5 sessions so far. Yesterday I was at 80 degrees with no assistance. I was hoping to be farther, but was not too upset until my PT mentioned that I may nee...

Re: Last PT session.......FULL ROM YAHOO

Yeah!! This is so, inspiring, Meg, since I just began PT last week. I now realize the true meaning of "no pain, no gain!" Okay, thanks to you I'm off to do one more set of wall slides, grimacing all the way. Thanks for sharing your victory, and, yes, 2007 will be much better. Elaine

Re: Broken Patella - Advice Please

Hi Emily. Congrats on your sale and happiness in your new home. In regard to healing, I saw my OS on Friday who was surprised and pleased at how well I'm doing(fractured my patella on 11/16; surgery 11/22). He suggested it was my stubborn nature that accelerated the healing. I guess that's a complim...

Thanks all for your feedback. I have a list of questions for my OS on Friday. This site (i.e. all of you) is a gift. Elaine

Driving: Manual versus automatic and other ramblings

I could use some advice. I see my OS on Friday and hope to have the reins loosened if possible or at least see a glimmer of independece. I currently am not allowed to drive anything, but I own a manual transmission. I'm 6 weeks post patella fracture. What has been your experience with the time frame...

Re: Broken Patella - Advice Please

Hi Emily. Sorry to welcome you to the club, but I know you'll find the site helpful. I fractured my patella on 11/16/06; surgery 11/22; have been in an immobilizer since my accident. Like you, I slipped and fell on a slippery surface (at work). I've been using full arm crutches since my accident. I ...

Re: Fractured Patellar repaired last week- I have Questions

John, sorry to hear of your injury. I'm pretty new to the "club"...Fractured my patella mid Novemder, surgery 11/22. I was "lucky" my patella was fractured in half with only 2 screws and an 8 wire holding it altogether. What I've learned on this site is to respect your injury and...

Re: TPF type 1B to walking 2km 10 weeks later - fitness, PT & enzyme suppl. work!

Math, I love the idea of body scanning. I'm a nurse working (or will again be working) on an eating disorder unit and frequently have used body scanning with my patients to increase body-mind connection. Isn't it ironic how I "forgot" that these practices can also help myself ? ::) >:(What...

Re: Things we should not do after patella fracture

Been reading all the responses to Joel. They've been helpful and encouraging. I'm kind of living out my fantasy by reading them since I'm not yet ready for PT. My patella fracture happened in mid-November (slipped on the floor at work), surgery the day before Thanksgiving. Like most of you I was pre...

Re: It's been 1 year

Deb, It's great to hear you're re-entering life. As for never being the same, I think about that too. I fractured my patella on 11/16 and currently am healing from surgery. Before this I was active, despite my 57 years, power walking (running in my youth took its toll), yoga, cross country skiing, s...

Update on back to work

I saw my doctor today for a one week, post-op checkup. I got my stiches out so priority one is a shower! He will not let me return to work until I see him again in 5 weeks. Not the time frame I expected, I hoped to be back in some limited fashion in another week. Anyway, I'm going to be a good patie...

Thanks

I'm new to this site and the recovery process for a patella fracture (sugery was 11/22/06). You guys are great. I would especially like to thank Jazzy and Mtsarpilot for their advice on going back to work. Mtsarpilot, you kind of freaked me out when you said you were back at work that next Monday, b...
