Jax needs some advice
« on: September 11, 2004, 02:19:22 PM »
Hi everyone,
Hope someone can give me some advice (I have already posted on Post Op Diary but had no replys).

The feed back I have had from my PT who managed to get hold of my notes and find out just what they did in my op 20th August!.  Reads as follows:-

Grade 3 - 4 changes lateral facet patella, anterior horn tear medial meniscus, wash out and LR.  (right knee)

I am due to see my OS on Tuesday, feel concerned about the amount of degeneration and would like some advice on questions I could put to him about other options before arthristis sets in.  Thanks Jax
LR left knee 05/01 and LR on right knee 09/01
CP both knees.
Scope RK 20/9  LR , anterior horn tear medial meniscus.  Grade 3 - 4 changes LFP and debridement also LR and Meniscus tear LK 11/04. Fulkerson TTT 7th July

Jax,

Here is a very good web page that covers the issue of chondral defects like yours, and goes over the options in terms of treatment.

http://www.steadman-hawkins.com/knee_chondral/overview.asp

Here is another link on PFS, which also would likely apply to your case:
http://www.steadman-hawkins.com/pate/overview.asp

Finally, this is a very detailed, fairly technical resource.  Go to the kneecap pain links and read through each of them:

http://www.kneehippain.com

Hope this information helps.  There are also several detailed posts in the patello-femoral section that deal with OA, chondral defects, and so forth.
