ACL and Meniscal surgery
« on: July 22, 2004, 12:49:07 AM »
Hey,
I'm 17 and injured my knee about 4 months ago while playing indoor soccer.  At first the doctors thought it was a sprain, but about a month ago I got an MRI and we found out I completely tore my ACL and part of my lateral meniscus. (I KNEW that the pain and loud pop meant more than a sprain...)  I have surgery scheduled in about a week and a half, and am pretty scared.  What is the recovery like?  Pain?  I'm heading to college Sept. 18, and the sugery is August 2nd.  Will I be able to freely get around once I move in?  I'm concerned, because my primary transportation once I get to school would be my bike.  Any info you guys have about surgery, recovery, tips, etc.  would be WONDERFUL.  Thanks.
