Hoffa Fracture in Toronto
« on: July 08, 2021, 10:45:22 PM »
Anyone here deal with a hoffa facture?

I had a motorbike accident a few months ago. Bone is healing well, I am back to fully weight bearing 3 months later. Internal fixation with two headless compression screws.

Worried about the cartilage damage to the lateral condyle. Surgeon recommends wearing unloader brace for life.

I am only 28, wondering if I should be looking into any other options like OATS, ACI or Microfracture?

Any recommendations for a knee specialist in Ontario? Currently working with an Orthopaedic Surgeon at a fracture clinic but am looking for someone who can dedicate a bit more time to exploring treatment options for my cartilage.

There’s a list of cartilage repair specialists here, not sure if any in Canada. You’ll need to check what options are available/licensed

More general list of specialists here, can search by country/province/city

Cartilage damage is very hard to fix longer term, the procedures have long tough rehabs with no firm guarantees unfortunately

Good luck :)
