Knee is purple after 10 knee surgeries in the past 2 years
« on: January 19, 2021, 09:57:09 PM »
I've had 10 knee surgeries in the past 2 years.  They have left me with a 12" scar and my skin is purple(bruised-like).  It gets very red/purple with heat or if i stand on it too long.
Is there anything I can do?  I massage it, elevate that leg and wear an anti-embolism stocking.
PS: The surgeries all had to do with an infected joint, removing the prosthetic and putting in spacers.  Then having tears in my quad tendon.  Ive also had multiple picc lines, wound vacs, that is how I got a lovely oval scar.   :'(

Has your surgeon considered it could be nerve related, something like CRPS (aka RSD)? More likely to be managed by a pain managements specialist so may need a referral.

What prosthesis was removed? A total knee replacement?
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09 (lat meniscus, lat condyle defect)
