Please help! New mom with chronic knee pain
« on: December 04, 2020, 01:43:33 AM »
Hi guys,

I have had chronic knee pain for about 4 or 5 years. In the left knee I have a post-surgical saphenous nerve entrapment. And now on the right I have medial knee pain since the summer-diagnosed by my PT as PFS from putting more weight on my right leg chronically, and also I am carrying around a 9 month old. All my muscles are atrophied from chronic pain and leg strengthening backfires so often that I gave up and focus on walking, standing, sitting, stairs etc. But this new-ish right knee pain is setting me back big time. I already have orthotics but am getting a new pair. I already Ice and pace myself. I'm breastfeeding so dont know if any meds or topicals are safe. I was considering accupuncture, blood flow restriction therapy....not sure what other options I have?

Sorry to hear that you're still struggling with knee pain. Options for pain management are probably limited while breastfeeding. Have you discussed this with a doc? Maybe the new right knee pain will settle down with time if you take it easy (as easy as you can). Medial knee pain develops quite easily as this is a tight area in the knee. But at least in my case it goes away quite easy as well (or easier than other types of knee pain).
RK sharp pain while running, diagnosis chondromalacia patellae 6/09
RK arthroscopic chondroplasty 9/09
RK rehab, recovery, 90% normal, started running again -> back to square one 5/15
RK diagnosis patellofemoral arthritis + LK diagnosis chondromalacia patellae 8/15 -> conservative treatment
