Anyone else been though this?
« on: October 21, 2020, 07:46:35 PM »
Hi everyone, I need some help here trying to figure out what the heck is going on with my knee. I was waking around and all of a sudden my knee made a big popping sound. I tried to take a step but it was too painful to bear any weight on or bend my knee. There was no swelling then or now and after a few moments I was able to walk as long as I tightened up my leg without bending at my knee. When I got up from sitting, I had to stand and wait before I could bare weight to walk. Then after 4 days, I was able to walk and bend my knee again. It still hurts to bear weight going up and down the stairs and there's still no visable signs of swelling. What the heck! Anyone else been though this?

How old are you? Have you had ever had problems with the knee before? Are you generally fit and well?
How long ago did this happen? Even minor knee issues can take weeks if not months to resolve
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation

Hi

For piece of mind, a visit to your GP is the first line of action, as you may require a scan to establish that you have not sustained any ongoing injury.

It clearly was something mechanical, and I would hazard a loose body in the joint that suddenly floated out in the joint fluid and got trapped temporarily. This would be a possibility especially if you in the past had a previous meniscus injury, or a bang on the knee where some cartilage may have chipped off.
