Meniscus Repair and Rehab were going perfectly.....
« on: September 26, 2020, 11:47:55 AM »
Had basic meniscectomy exactly 9 weeks ago.  Was walking daily the week after surgery, running lightly 3 weeks after surgery.  Rehab was a breeze and swelling was gone within 4 weeks.  I pretty much felt back to normal at the 6 week mark.

Then out of the blue, after a round of golf followed by an evening of officiating a football game this week, I woke up with significant swelling and stiffness.  If feels like I am back to week 2.  Is that normal or did I possibly damage something?  Should I go back to the doctor or just start the RICE and rehab again?

RICE and rehab again, if no better in a month or if it gets worse, go back to the surgeon.  Are / were you seeing a physio, what do they say?

It can take 6 months to truly get back to normal after the trauma of menisectomy and your knee and lower body to get used to its new normal as the biomechanics have changed.
How old are you? Was it a degenerate tear or a traumatic tear?

Good Luck :)
