Post-Surgery Comfort Tips
« on: July 30, 2020, 07:15:24 AM »
Please share your tips and tricks for staying comfortable after surgery! Here are a few of mine:

(Perhaps obvious): Wear shorts!

In hospital

Getting in and out of bed without help: If your R leg is injured, sit on the R side of the bed. Hook your L foot under your R ankle and use your L leg to lift your R leg up as you pivot onto the bed.

Ask hospital staff to keep the bin next to your bed.

To use a bedpan: Keep a roll of TP next to the bed so you don't have to negotiate TP usage with staff. Place a towel under the bedpan. Pull your underpants down, but keep the blankets around your waist. I found it easier to use the bed pan sitting up.

At Home

Arnica cream for bruising and swelling, staying away from the dressing.
