Lateral meniscus transplant
« on: February 02, 2020, 02:02:07 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm here to tell you my story.
This Summer I tore my right lateral meniscus (I don't even know how, maybe leg press but I'm not sure at all) and I had a meniscectomy in September.
After one month It seemed to be everything OK, but as soon as I tried to return to sports (Crossfit), I suffered from pain again.
My ortho diagnosed me with "Post-Meniscectomy syndrome", which He says it's common in people who had had a subtotal meniscectomy, and told me I need a meniscus transplant, scheduled for the beginning of summer.
I'll have surgery at Rizzoli in Bologna, Italy, and I'm just curious to know if anyone had experienced the same procedure and how was his follow-up.
I'd like to CrossFit again one day, could this be possible after a long rehab (years?)
I apologise for my english, but I'm not a native speaker.

Hey!
Iím having the exact same procedure in only 3 weeks, and are wondering about the same stuff as you. Iím 22 years old, from Norway and had 4 meniscectomy and 1 meniscus repair. Iíve waited about 6 months for this surgery.
I will be happy to update you after my surgery!
And in the meantime if anyone can answer some questions, Iíll be very happy.
- how was the pain?
- what should I bring to the hospital? (Iíll be staying there for a couple of days)
- for how long time after the surgery did you need assistant for ďevery-dayĒ tasks?
- how long before you could walk without crutches?
- and how long did you need to wear a brace?

Hi,
My ortho told me that in the first month I can't bear weight on the knee and also I have to wear a brace which doesn't allow flexion.
He told me that probably I will start bering weight again after 2 months (hopefully I'll be back to work after that time). I'm sure that you should take a couple crutches to the hospital.
I wish you the best man, knee issues are hateful  >:(
