Bending Knee
« on: December 07, 2019, 04:48:42 PM »
It's 10 days since my Microfracture surgery. I am doing the exercises I can do. At this stage how much should the knee bend. Mine still feels very stiff and feels like if I push it too much it will pop.

Sorry for the questions I'm just so unsure of everything and what's normal.

Also how long do we need to keep the leg up on the sofa etc or can we sit normally with leg down?

Your knee is fresh from a very big trauma, itíll be swollen and angry inside. Itís likely the swelling that restricts the bending. Just do as tolerate. Assume youíre icing it regularly especially after the exercises? Are the stitches out now? If not, it should feel more comfortable once theyíve gone (my knees always have done)

When sitting, try to have your knees and feet parallel, feet flat on floor. Donít cross legs or ankles

Itís still really early days after a biggish op, think in terms of weeks not days. Itís not even 2 weeks

Hi Vickster, firstly thanks for responding to my posts it has helped me understand more.

You are right I tend to forget how big the op was because it was through keyhole surgery.

I must admit I'm not icing as much as I probably should. I'm also still sitting on sofa with my leg up either elevated or not.

I had steristrips which came off when I first changed the dressing.

I need to give it time I know and I'm probably expecting to run before I can walk lol.
