A (not so) welcome back
« on: October 08, 2019, 07:43:43 PM »
Hey all,

Been here before with a very similar username but it's been quite some time.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm a 27 year old male from Newfoundland, Canada. I made my rounds here beginning way back in 2010 when I ruptured my ACL, MCL and tore the medial meniscus in my right knee.

Fast forward to post op, shortly after I was back on my feet so to speak, I tore the medial meniscus in my left knee. I've had 2 surgeries on this previously and this is what brings me back.

My last surgery was somewhere between 2013 and 2014. I've had the occasional creak and pain but nothing too serious. Over the last few days I've had a tremondous amount of sharp pain over the medial side of this knee. Of course, stairs are a huge issue, and so is trying to weight bare after sitting for an excess of 15-20 minutes. I'm hoping this is just a normal part of having buggered up knees, however, been around the block here once or twice before. I'm looking for opinions, tips, advice, etc. It's truly great to be back, despite the absolutely horrid reasons for being back!

Tony

Not as of yet, there's quite the wait for my GP and emergency seems like overkill.

Book an appointment.

Given your history, I'd be requesting an X-ray to check joint space for arthritis

Can you see a physiotherapist at least while waiting?  Otherwise usual RICE applies. Try some anti inflammatory gel on the sore bit of the knee too

Good luck
