Did I unset my graft after slipping over?
« on: July 02, 2019, 10:13:20 PM »
Hi all,

Iím exactly 4 weeks into my ACL reconstruction which was a hamstring autograft.

Rehab has been so-so. Been keeping up with physio on the light side as I couldnt get the swelling down as much as I wouldíve liked. This has meant that overall my ROM has been a bit limited and my knee quite tight.

Whilst putting out some laundry I stepped over something on the floor onto a rug which slipped away from me on the parquet floor. My knee got a sharp & painful jolt and overextended in exactly the direction which caused my complete rupture in the first place.

Afterwards I felt a slight bruising but not too much pain although I had not long since taken some ibruprofen. I rested in for 10 mins with some ice and after I got up to walk I felt my knee was noticeably easier than it had been since the operation and I had more range of movement than earlier in the day. Whilst walking my knee felt more wobbly than stiff as it had previously.

Is it possible that I could have affected or loosened how the surgeon had tightened the graft?

Thanks in advance.
