Weight loss after knee replacement
« on: July 02, 2019, 10:00:13 AM »
Hi Guys,
I had a knee replacement 4 weeks ago. I am slightly concerned that since the surgery I have lost around 8 pounds in weight without trying. I am 5ft 9 ins tall and prior to surgery my weight was around 205 pounds so I obviously need to shed some weight.

The pain meds are giving me terrible constipation and I am eating less than I did before the surgery. My question is, is it normal to lose weight after this surgery.

I have tried to lose weight in the past but never managed this much in such a short time.

You should talk to your doctor about the constipation. Presumably, you are drinking lots of water, eating plenty of fibre, fruit, veg,  moving around regularly?

If youíre eating less and more healthily, then losing 8lb in a month isnít excessive especially if you are overweight. Even so discuss with your doctor as soon as you can as constipation can be detrimental to health and well being
