Allergy to internal stitches
« on: August 05, 2018, 09:45:26 PM »
I appear to have developed an allergy to the dissolvable internal stitches! 5.5 weeks lost op from a MPFL reconstruction and I had a small rash around one of the incision sites. Saw my GP who wasnít sure, it presented as possibly a possible infection so I was prescribed antibiotics. 2 days later the rash had spread around 4/5 incision sites and had started to blister. Saw GP again who spoke to the surgical department and I got sent to A&E. Tests done showed no infection and all doctors agreed it was an allergic reaction. Iím taking as many anti histamines as I can and putting a steroid cream on the the parts that havenít yet blistered.

Anyone else ever had this? Wondering how long itís going to be like this! It is driving me mad as it itches and the blisters pop and secrete and then dry out. It does look like itís continuing to spread so I am keeping a close eye on it and will return to hospital if it gets worse.

So frustrating as I was finally getting somewhere with my ROM and walking :(
