Gait after ACL surgery
« on: July 14, 2018, 02:52:05 PM »
For ACLr-ers out there, how soon post op was your gait back to fully normal?
Three months in, mine is still subtly different on the operated leg. Someone who isnít looking out for it probably wouldnít notice it, but I am aware of it and so is my physio. To a degree itís because I often let my knee cap slump inwards because of the impaired hamstring function, so I set my foot down a little bit awkwardly. Iím working on that when I walk, stand, in my exercises and with my physio. But thereís also what Iíd describe as a slight hesitation, a bit of carefulness there, like it only 95% flows.
Anyone else experience that? My physio says it will come as the  muscles rebuild, but  I find it so frustrating!
6 Mar 2018 - skiing fall, ACL rupture, MCL and LCL sprain, lateral meniscus tear and bone bruising
13 Apr 2018 - ACL reconstruction with hamstring autograft, small meniscus repair
