Patella fracture surgery PT progress
« on: May 11, 2018, 10:06:48 PM »
Hi All,
I cracked my kneecap in half on Mar 17, 2018.
I had surgery on Mar 23, 2018.
Leg brace locked in zero for 2 weeks.
Post op visit ok’d by the Doc to start PT 3 times a week for 6-8 weeks.
2nd post op visit after 2 weeks of PT; still cant flex actively or do leg taises .
Severe athropy in quads.
3rd post op Doc visit at week 4 of PT;
Finally able to actively flex at 45 degrees , and leg raise on my own.
Doc set my leg brace to ‘full range’ mode and says; I want you at 90 degrees.
This week or the next three visits after Doc visit, my PT added new exercises and Im at 70 degress active flex and can do leg raises! Very slow going and 2 weeks to the 8 week mark fron surgery.
I started going to my gym on my PT days off and feel so much more confidant.
I use a cane and still wear my brace at full ramge mode. Next Doc appt will be May31,
2018 at 9 weeks postop.
I am positive if I continue to do my daily exercises , that I can reach my 90 degree flex or more goal!
I ran out of PT sessions and will be POP now, I feel I at least need 3 more weeks with my PT sessions and hope I can take on the remaining therapy on my own at the gym..
Anyone know if I am progressing normaly or if I seem to behind ?
Good luck to all fellow Patella fracture recovery folks!
Time heals all wounds🙏🏻
