nerve branch block painful
« on: April 21, 2018, 08:02:28 PM »
so today I went for a  nerve branch block for knee.   the idea was this would see if a more perminent denervation would work.
I am ok with injections, do not worry me,had steroid shots in knee previous with no issue, I have also broken ribs in past, likewise toes, have real bad bone on bone arthritis in knee, have had various nasty accidents so I was not worried it would hurt.  I can honestly say have never experienced pain like it=  the needle placement was so painful I wanted to throw up & near passed out.  seemed to go on forever .    it was complete agony & I still feel sick with shock several hours later.   it did stop hurting for a few hours once drugs injected. ( now throbbing & swollen)
nhs consultant said I will not be able to have denervation due to my extreme pain response as  they do not offer anesthesia, or sedation & apparently the denervation hurts even more!
Is it common for it to be this bad? the 3 people who went in front of me came out smiling- I came out unable even to dress unassisted .   I am still shaking in shock as never experienced anything so painful
