Mpfl surgery warmth and Problem with sitting
« on: February 14, 2018, 10:13:00 PM »
Hi everyone!

I am now 9 Weeks Post surgery (135 Rom) and my knee feels stabile and okay. When i am at Work and i have to sit for longer periods and keep knee Bent in the Same Position it soon gets warmer and Kind of Sore. After Standing Up and doing some walking it Starts to feel normal again.

Is that normal? I am starting to get really worried.

Cheers david

Hi David!
I've had MPFL reconstruction on both knees and with both, I had the warmth and soreness for around 4 months afterward. My doctor said it was because of the inflammation and healing. If it worries you though or seems like it's not getting better, please go and get it checked out!
MPFL RECON (R)- June 2016
MPFL RECON (L)- March 2017
LATERAL RELEASE/FAT PAD REDUCTION (R)- June 2017
SCREW REMOVAL/FAT PAD REDUCTION (R)- August 2017

Hey!

Thanks for the answer. I think it is getting better but slowly. I am now 4 month post surgery but still there is some warmth, especially after doing excessive workout but interestingly it is sorer the next day and not directly after the work out. When I sit and have my leg stretched out the knee is cool like the other knee but when i stand up it gets warmer.

I  think that it also is getting sorer/warmer if I wear tighter jeans...which feels like is also not so good for my knee.

Are there other opinions on that "issue"?

Best David

Ice the knee after workouts and at the end of the day to see if that helps. Maybe avoid excessive workouts too :)
