ACL reconstruction feels very loose after 5 weeks
« on: February 01, 2018, 06:07:17 AM »
I had an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair  done about 6 weeks ago, I was in a leg brace to restrict my range of motion so it started off at 15 degrees and by week 4 I was on 90 degrees.

I was instructed to take the brace off when doing flexing and stretching. It was round about week 5, while doing my exercises that my leg bent a bit far and I heard a click (I felt no pain), after that my knee moved much easier, is it possible that the ligament detached ?

That seems unlikely although your graft is most vulnerable 6-12 weeks post op. More likely you broke up some scar tissue but only your surgeon can tell you (or your Physio as first port of call)
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation
LK scope 10.1.19 medial menisectomy, trochlea microfracture, general tidy up

Just take it easy in the meantime. Seek advice if it swells, gets mire painful, gives way etc (the symptoms you had when first torn really)

Stick exactly to your surgeonís rehab protocol, and presumably youíre working with a Physio

Good luck :)
