Post TTT & MPFL night time Pain -Please Help
« on: January 24, 2018, 06:13:55 AM »
Hi guys

I am 6 days post opp TTT & mpfl . From the second day in the hospital , I am experiencing when I fall asleep waking up in a shock as feel like my knee has dislocated , you know the feeling when the knee swings out before that scare of it unhinging - I get that but this time the knee doesn't unhinge as it's secure but still feels like it is trying to.  My surgeon said it's my brain adjusting to the change associating pain with dislocation

I accepted this

I am now at home , I have pain but much less and last two nights again , just as I fall to sleep , ( it's when ever my leg muscles relax ) I wake up to a sharp pain like my patella is dislocating I scream grab my knee but it's there , but i defitale feel the pull -swing like it's trying to dislocate or even is for a second or two - just now not as far

Does anyone else experience this ? Is it my muscles twitching or my knee slipping ?  I'm just told it's I. My mind and its not but want to know if it's common to start ?

Thanks - I'm really worried xx jen

How are you doing now? Have you been in further contact with your surgeon?
RK sharp pain while running, diagnosis chondromalacia patellae 6/09
RK arthroscopic chondroplasty 9/09
RK rehab, recovery, 90% normal, started running again -> back to square one 5/15
RK diagnosis patellofemoral arthritis + LK diagnosis chondromalacia patellae 8/15 -> conservative treatment

Hi I am seeing him on Tuesday he think it's In my head
But it's when ever I relax - I expect it's all the muscles relaxing then tightening again but feel like it's my knee locking - did anyone experience this

I haven't heard about anything like this, maybe somebody else has? Could it be some muscle spasms, muscle control, nerves, or something? Ask the doc this and try to emphasize to him on Tuesday that it is not in your head and the muscles are really tightening up.
