Creaky Gray new to the site
« on: February 26, 2004, 11:08:30 PM »
Hi I am new to this site.  I joined because I have very loud creaky knees, which are getting louder and click almost continually now.  My knees used to creak from the hollow on the outside, just below the kneecap, but now the crack comes from directly across the kneecap. I even get a double crack ocassionally when I bend down.  Everyone I know thinks it is funny and make jokes about my cracking knees.
Can anyone enlighten me as to my condition and can anyone offer any suggestions as to how to stop them creaking.  Should I use magnetherapy, herbal supplements or special diet.  Any advice would be gratefully (no pun intended) received.

Oh Creaky welcome to the boards!
There are so many different things that cause cracking/popping in those knees.  Some are plicas, torn meniscus or degernative articular cartilage as well as just the normal joint cracking that we all get in our joints.

Do you have any other problems that go along with this like pain or swelling?  Has this been going on for a very long time or is it something fairly new?

You know your body and if you feel this is an area of concern then you should at least consult your GP and if he/she feels there may be something that warrants a visit with a specialist, then they can point you in the right direction.

In the mean time hang in there.  You are sure to get some useful information and suggestions here!

Good Luck-
