Any advice on severe OCD of the knee and surgery
« on: November 16, 2016, 06:57:29 PM »
My son, 14, was just diagnosed with severe OCD of the knee.  His cartlige and a small piece of bone have broken away and are "floating around".  The doc is saying he thinks he can fix it with surgery using small pins to re-attach the part of the bone back where it's suppose to be.  I'm worried and I've read where many people end of having to have this procedure done many times.  He's in 8th grade and soooooo wants to play high school and college football.

Please tell me any advice you have and who did your surgery (successful or not).  We have an appointment with Dr. Aaron Krych at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, but I can't find info on how many of these procedures he's done.  We have another appointment with Dr. Bart Eastwood in Blacksburg, Va but he doesn't sound like he's done many.
