Reoccurring hemarthrosis after knee injury
« on: April 02, 2016, 08:02:36 PM »
Three weeks ago I took quite a fall directly onto my knee.  No fractures noted, but severe swelling and bruising for about two weeks.  At this point of the swelling decreasing fluid began accumulating.  My orthopod drained about 100 ccc blood last Monday.  It came right back and another 75 cc of blood was drained Friday.  This time I was wrapped in a pressure dressing from ankle to thigh and told to wear my imobilizer as much as possible this weekend.  Well just like's back and I figure he will drain it once again when I see him on Tuesday. Is this normal after a trauma? Is it normal that there is still bleeding obviously three weeks after initial injury?  My surgeon hasn't seemed greatly concerned with the reoccurances, but I obviously can't be having my knee draine twice a week forever.
