non existant quads mechanism...
« on: August 06, 2015, 02:13:11 AM »
At 10 years old I tore my patellar tendon off my knee cap, chipped 20% of my knee cap away and dislocated it. had knee cap removed at 18 and last year at 32 i slipped and tore my quads.  13 months post surgery I have just had assessment which states my quads mechanism is virtually non existant against gravity.  I have worked my tail feather off in rehab.  Are there any other options open to me or is this my life?  Stuck in a brace and with a knee that gives way almost constantly.

Advise appreciated.

Shellbelz, wish I could say something positive, but honestly don't know enough to comment, presumably with the others who have read your post. Hopefully one of the moderators can give you some advice. I would suggest you may get a better response by posting on one of the main RQT or RPT threads that receive more traffic.
I'm sure all of us who have been through this offer our support even if nothing else. A positive attitude works wonders. Keep us informed by posting updates.

Good luck

for responding Stuart...  I will try another thread as u suggested. My surgeon told me when I hit 9 months post surgery it will be as good as it gets but surely with all the changes in technology surely something can be done... im only 33 almost 34 and am a solo mum to a small child...

You should actually contribute in people's threads, I.e don't just spam or use the social forums  ::)
