I’m wondering if there is a type of strain known to be often associated with hyperextension, which could cause pain in a sharp jab at the outer side of the front of the knee cap when the injury occurs?
Not sure where to start in this forum because I don’t know what I have. I straightened my leg very tightly (overextend?) and I immediately felt a sharp jab there. For a while I couldn’t straighten my knee or bend my knee real far, couldn’t squat down, but could walk okay as long as I didn’t put extra weight on my knee by carrying heavy items. I stopped exercise 6 weeks, and it seemed to get better, but then as I returned to exercises, the same hurt started all over again. I made a doctor appt but can’t get in for four weeks, so not sure what to read about in the mean time. I guess I'll give up exercise all together for a while; I’m icing every night and taking anti-inflammatories, but the darn thing just isn’t clearing up. Would like to read more on this, but I don’t know what it could be.
Thanks for any direction
