I wouldn't have thought so at 5 days (how big is the incision and how is it closed?)  Really you should contact the hospital or at the very least see the GP nurse (and let her send you to the hospital ;) ).  Don't feel bad about bothering them, it's what they are there for.  You do not want an infected wound - I've had one in my shin, emergency hospital admission and IV antibiotics followed by surgery

No one on the internet can tell you what is going on with your knee - get a medical person to examine it.  You are not wasting their time (that's people who call ambulances because they've run out of tissues when they have a cold)!

I don't know how long an osteotomy scar is, sorry.  It might be normal but better to be safe than sorry.  If it is hot, red or you feel unwell (feverish), see someone asap

F t docs , as the pain is a lot worse then when I had the osteotomy op 18 months ago , wouldn't of thought the hardware removal should be more painful  Around the wound area, , and have been feeling big unwell last two days put it down to my daughter having the glum, perhaps it's not , thinks it's about 4-5 inches roughlyn....
Once again thanks😆

Have you taken your temperature?  Certainly ask the nurse if you should go to the hospital to have the wound checked for signs of infection depending on what she says

All the best :)

Thanks been waiting all day  for cummunity nurse to come to be told they can't make it ...so now had to phone ward I stayed in to see if it's normal as more bleeding this morning and part of scar raised and can see the underside of the sknn , don't feel hot but bit light headed but that could be pain meds and scar stinging like mad , the ward going to phone my consultant to find out if I need to worry ...😆

Have you changed your dressings yet at all? I know I had a LOT of blood that had soaked through mine from the close in the OR to when I finally was able to change them.

Other than that, I developed some big blood blisters at the site of the incision with mine (fracture blisters, and they're relatively common), which when they ruptured bled. I also blew a few stitches a couple of times in the beginning, which caused blood seeping through.

I never had like a big loose flap of skin hanging, though--like one where you could see way down in. Iff that's happened, yeah, you should def. at least call the nurseline or something. (If you can't get a hold of your own docs, you can always call the general nurse line and just tell them you had a a fracture and ORIF. It's far easier to understand "I had a broken femur and a plate put in" than explain an osteotomy (which, for reasons unknown to me, people--even some in the medical field--always thinks involves your colon...)

No they said they were happier I went to see my consultants team rather then gp or nurse , as he likes to be aware of all problems with his patients .and brought forward my post op appointment .. To double check on my wound and recovery ... 😆
