14 y/o girl getting MPFL reconstruction surgery
« on: February 27, 2015, 03:24:45 AM »
Hello, I am a 14 year old girl and I have subluxated my left knee three times, which is incredibly loose. Because of this, I'm having surgery scheduled (MPFL reconstruction). I play hockey and volleyball, and I wear a knee brace while doing physical activities. However, whenever I've subluxated my knee, it's been times that a knee brace shouldn't've been necessary. I've already decided on surgery, due to the fact this will be a reoccurring thing until I get it fixed, and I'm done growing, so there can't be any harm there. Any estimates on how long it may take me to get back into sports? Does this surgery almost guarantee that I won't have an episode of subluxation again? Could having this surgery done now lead to other things in the future?

Thank you.
