Septated knee effusion
« on: January 22, 2015, 01:53:26 AM »
CT scan says "Septated knee effusion"  I know effusion means fluid but what does Septated mean?
Having lots of pain and swelling plus instability. Had a total knee replacement 10 years ago.

Usually that means that there are more than one part to the effusion.. that it is separated as opposed to one big effusion...  think of it as 2 (or more) compartments of effusion, generally in the same area.
